Pia: De Lima a 'perfect fit' for DOJ job

Senator Pia S. Cayetano today welcomed reports that Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chair Leila De Lima will be appointed as Secretary of the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the incoming administration of President-elect Benigno Aquino III, adding that De Lima is a "perfect fit" for the job of DOJ Chief.

"The impending appointment Chair Leila De Lima as Justice Secretary is a welcome development. As CHR Chair, De Lima displayed great independence and feistiness in carrying out her duty to defend and uphold human rights."

"She also proved that no case is too small or too big for the CHR to exercise its oversight function and perform its Constitutional mandate."

"Our government badly needs more women public servants like her who are not only independent, but also pro-active and dedicated . I am hopeful that De Lima's impending transfer to the DOJ would infuse reforms and dynamism in the department and in the overall, speed up the fair dispensation of justice in our country."
