ARCHBISHOP CRUZ, DILG/PNP OFFICIALS, SQUARE OFF TOMORROW

Fireworks are expected tomorrow, first day of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the controversial jueteng payola issue.

Senator Teofisto 'TG' Guingona III, head of the Blue Ribbon Committee, said he has invited all the personalities involved to shed light on the issue of jueteng payoffs to officials close to President Benigno Aquino III.

First on the guest list is retired Lingayen/Dagupan Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz who disclosed that two close associates of the president receive a P2million monthly payola from jueteng operators.

Also invited to attend tomorrow's hearing are Department of Interior and Local Government Sec. Jesse Robredo and Undersecretary Rico Puno. Police Chief Raul M. Bacalzo, P/CSupt. Orlano M. Mabutas (RD, PRO1), P/CSupt. Michael Benedict B. Fokno (RD, PRO2), P/CSupt. Alan La Madrid Purisima (RD, PRO3), P/CSupt. Nicanor Bartolome (RD, PRO4-A), P/CSupt. Artemio G. Hiban. (RD, PRO4-B) will also appear on the hearing.

Sen. Guingona said he had also invited Mr. Romualdo V. Quiñones, Special Project Department manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to discuss the Small Town Lottery which was created to eradicate jueteng.
