CJ PANGANIBAN HEADLINES 10TH
PHL-SPAIN FRIENDSHIP CELEBRATION

Former Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban graced the 10th Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day celebrations held in Baler, Aurora as its guest of honor.

Aside from Panganiban, foreign dignitaries also attended in support of the first decade of commemorating the friendship between the Philippines and Spain.

Present were Ambassador Jorge Domecq of Spain, Ambassador Menashe Bar-on of Israel, Ambassador Jouaquin Daniel of Argentina, Ambassador Prasas Prasasvinichai of Thailand, Ambassador Yohanes Kristiarto Legowo of Indonesia and Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tu of Vietnam.

The Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day Steering Committee partnered with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, the National Commission on Culture and the Arts, the Embassy of Spain, the Instituto Cervantes and the Philippine Embassy in Spain to make the much-awaited 10th year celebration memorable.

"The Phil-Span Friendship Day is a national holiday that commemorates the best of our shared historical and cultural heritage," said Angara, Chair of the Philippines-Spain Parliamentary Friendship Group.

"This is an opportune time to work with Spain toward mutual peace, prosperity and progress," he added. "We also have enormous opportunities for cooperation in education, poverty alleviation, peace building, renewable energy and heritage conservation.

"Culture remains our greatest shared heritage. The Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day will always remind us about the Spanish in Filipinos and the Filipinos in Spaniards," said Angara, author and main sponsor of Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day Act (RA 9187) together with Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo "Sonny" M. Angara.
