ECUMENICAL PRAYER ON THE OPENING OF
THE 3RD SESSION OF THE 15TH CONGRESS

Lord Almighty,

Today, we come together to open the third and final session of the 15th Congress and, later, to hear the President address the nation.

The past year was fraught with challenges, imperiled by dissension. But accountability was upheld, and we are on our way to restoring public trust.

The economy appears stronger, and the people more optimistic. Yet for each thing accomplished, twice more needs to be done. For the people expect a lot more from a government it empowered with an overwhelming mandate.

Lord,

Help us be resolute and single-minded in supporting viable programs that will better the lives of our people.

Inspire us to act with greater urgency and purpose as this session will be cut short by the upcoming national elections. Let this not be an excuse to do less, but an opportunity to do even more.

Help us become more vigilant in guarding the gains we have achieved. Allow us not to let pass again the opportunity to fulfill this nation's potential and promise.

May integrity and uprightness govern all we endeavor, so that all we do prosper our country and our people.

Amen.
