NPC supports Loren on UNA guest bet issue

THE Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) is fully committed to the candidacy of Sen. Loren Legarda and will continue to support her political advocacies and aspirations.

NPC spokesman Rep. Rex Gatchalian of the 1st District of Valenzuela city issued the statement following reports that Legarda is being drafted by the United Nationalists Alliance (UNA) as one of its guest senatorial bets in the May 2013 midterm elections.

"We would like to stress that the NPC leadership and its members are steadfast in the candidacy of Sen. Legarda and we will continue to support her as we are confident of her victory in the coming elections" Gatchalian said.

"Her sterling and remarkable track record as a senator are the factors that made her as one of the top choices of other political coalitions such as the UNA" the lawmaker added.

He pointed out that the NPC is also fully supporting her advocacies of saving the environment, championing the causes of women and children and protecting the interests of overseas Filipino workers and their families.

"She is consistently topping the pre-election surveys because the people believe in her advocacies aside from her fine performance as a member of the Senate" Gatchalian averred.

The solon likewise expressed optimism that UNA's decision to include Legarda as its guest candidate will not affect the NPC's ongoing coalition talks with the ruling Liberal Party.

He even expressed hope that the LP might still adopt Legarda and Rep.Jackie Ponce Enrile as common candidates, which would further ensure their victory in the coming polls, despite the recent decision of UNA to include them in its slate.

"The talks are still ongoing, in fact the NPC and LP are already finalizing the details of the partnership agreement" Gatchalian stressed.

He also assured that the NPC will continue supporting the administration because they believe in the leadership of President Benigno 'Noynoy" Aquino III aside from the fact that they want to see him succeed in his efforts to lead the country towards progress and stability.
