SEN. ALAN & MAYOR LANI LEAD 70 NEWLYWEDS IN "I DO's"

Senate minority leader Alan Cayetano and Mayor Lani Cayetano hosted a mass wedding for seventy brides and grooms today at the Taguig City Kasalang Bayan.

The couple said that this one of their ways of saying thank you and paying it forward with the great marriage that they have. "We are very blessed to have a successful marriage and we wish the same on all these couples," Cayetano said.

Sen. Cayetano and Mayor Lani have been married for over 8 years.

Asked for tips for a successful marriage, Cayetano said, "Always make time. Like me and Mayor Lani, even if we're so busy with our work as public servants, we make it a point to always eat at least one meal together everyday," he said.

The senator advised the newlyweds to stay strong in their commitment to each other especially in times of doubt and trouble in their marriage using his and his wife's promise as an example. "When we got married, Lani and I vowed that we would never consider separating. We promised never to give up. So my advice to you is whenever you feel like giving up, look at your ring and the pictures you took today and remember that love," he added.

Cayetano also said that Lani keeps him inspired. "Napakasarap ng gising ko kapag gumising ako na niyayakap ako ni Lani. Napakaganda ng umaga ko kapag naaalala ko na in love ako kay Lani," he said.

ECONOMY NEEDS TO GET BETTER FOR STRONGER MARRIAGES

Cayetano also said that couples who have an opportunity to be together everyday should consider themselves very lucky as he lamented the plight of the families who are separated due to the need to seek employment abroad.

"You are lucky that you get to spend everyday with each other. Other couples are not so lucky. Our overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have no choice but to work away from their families because of the lack of jobs here," he said.

Cayetano is running on the platform of PiTiK- Presyo, Trabaho, Kita. He is fighting to lower prices of commodities, increase the number of jobs in the country, and raising the income of every Filipino.
