CAYETANO ATTRIBUTES SURVEY LEAP TO PTK MESSAGE

Senator Alan Cayetano is now statistically tied for the number one slot with fellow Team PNoy candidate Senator Loren Legarda in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey of senatorial candidates.

The latest SWS survey ranked Legarda at first place with a rating of 59 percent while Cayetano garnered a rating of 57 percent. With a +/- 3 margin of error, Legarda and Cayetano are now statistically tied for number one.

"Throughout this campaign we have been going around the country listening to ordinary Filipinos and their families talk about the issues that concern them the most: high prices, unemployment, and low income. I'm very glad and grateful that in the process of listening to our people it seems we've also managed to win their trust and support," Cayetano said in a statement.

Continuing Fight Against Corruption

Meanwhile, Cayetano pledged to continue his fight against corruption. "The strong message of trust from the people only strengthens my resolve to continue my crusade against corruption in order for good governance to translate to a stronger economy that is felt by all families," he said.

A Different Kind of Campaign

Cayetano shared that he has been conducting a non-traditional kind of campaign that is more grassroots-based. "We have been going around the country on a Listening Tour instead of having big rallies or sorties," he explained. "It was a risk because we are meeting small groups instead of huge crowds. But at least the survey results show that people appreciate the fact that you are personally listening to them to address their concerns."

"The best thing that I have gotten out of this Listening Tour is that I have personally heard from the people not only their problems but also their proposed solutions. Together, we can address all these issues regarding high prices, lack of jobs, and low income comprehensively," Cayetano said.

Cayetano's Listening Tour has so far taken him to places like Tiwi, Naga, Legazpi, Benguet, Cubao, Tondo, Daet, Baguio, La Trinidad, Cagayan de Oro, Bulacan, Pampanga, Cebu, Marikina, Makati, and many more. In these places, he has been able to talk to teachers, market vendors, senior citizens, factory workers, construction workers, shoemakers, fishermen, farmers, and barangay officials among others.

Cayetano said that he plans to continue his Listening Tour after the Holy Week in order to give his constituents time to reflect and be with their families during this time of prayer.

The SWS survey was conducted from March 15-17 using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 respondents.
