Teachers Join Alan Cayetano's Call for PTK

"Teachers, especially public school teachers, across the country are underpaid. We hope that with Senator Alan Cayetano's PTK program, teachers will be able to get better compensation and will not need to look for work abroad as nurses, caregivers or domestic helpers." This was the statement from Ating Guro partylist as they voiced their support for re-electionist Senator Cayetano.

"His call for just compensation and benefits for education workers even from way back has held true until now. He a worthy compatriot in the fight for teachers' rights," it said.

Cayetano's Listening Tour took him to Naga City last month to talk to elementary school teachers and daycare workers about the state of public school education in the province. He was moved by the plight of the teacher of Naga who revealed to him their need for further training to enhance their skills. This prompted him to push for computer assistance for teachers all over the county to enable them to add to their existing skill set.

Cayetano also reiterated his call for the full implementation of the benefits of teachers as stated in RA 4670 or the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers - one that he has stayed true to since the start of his career in the Senate.

The senator underscored the need for the sufficient provision of benefits to teachers, as well as daycare workers, given their impact on improving the lives of students. "According to studies, younger students have a higher chance of developing reading and writing skills. This is the reason why it is so important that we adequately support our daycare workers and elementary teachers," he said.
