Trillanes pushes for the realignment of Binay Pork to intel funds

In light of the recent events in Mindanao, Senator Antonio "Sonny" F. Trillanes IV on Monday pushes for the realignment of the P200-million pork barrel of Vice President Jejomar Binay to the intelligence funds of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Philippine National Police.

"The security situation in Mindanao highlights the need to augment the military and police intelligence funds," said Trillanes, chairman of the Senate committee on national defense.

Under the proposal of Trillanes, additional P100 million will be given each to AFP and PNP as part of their 2014 intelligence funds.

Last week, Binay asked the Congress to cancel his P200-million pork barrel allocation for 2014.

Trillanes, a former navy officer, is the principal author of the Revised AFP Modernization law and proponent of bills increasing the benefits of military and police personnel.
