Koko says Filipinos are good Samaritans; opens Senate office as relief center for Yolanda victims

Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, PDP Laban President, today opens up his office as relief center to accept and process goods and assistance for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda, asking the people to be good Samaritans in sharing their blessings with the victims of the catastrophe.

"There is always a good Samaritan in us. This is the time for everybody to help the victims of this worst disaster to hit us," said Pimentel, adding that his office will try to gather as much assistance it could collect from various benefactors for the victims.

He said that help is urgently needed for food, water, clothing and medicine and to soothe the pain of survivors who lost their loves in the cataclysm that has displaced 9.6 million people and fatalities that experts predict may well swell beyond 10,000.

Pimentel said that donors could just send their assistance to his office at the Senate of the Philippines in Pasay City where his staff and other volunteers are setting up a receiving kiosk to process the donations.

The donated goods and other assistance, he said, will be shipped directly to areas devastated by the monster howler in Tacloban City, Leyte, Samar, Panay Island, Palawan and Northern Cebu.
