SEN. JV SEEKS MASTERPLAN TO ADDRESS 5.5-M HOUSING BACKLOG

Senator JV Ejercito sought the 2015 National Housing Summit to come up with a comprehensive masterplan that shall serve as its consolidated output in addressing the nation's massive population and 5.5 million housing unit backlog.

Ejercito, as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement, said this in his speech yesterday morning (May 27) at the summit launch held at Sitio Lamesa, AMVACA site in Valenzuela City.

To accomplish this masterplan, Senator Ejercito urged the delegates from the academe, NGOs, private stakeholders, and financial institutions to unite with the government and lend their technical expertise to also tackle the issue of growing informal settler communities and to strengthen the government's existing housing programs.

Ejercito also commended all participants for expressing solidarity to the National Housing Summit, which is initiated by his Senate office together with the Office of Rep. Albee Benitez, and sponsored by the World Bank.
