Transcript of Ambush Interview with Senate President Franklin M. Drilon

Q: On whether the Mamasapano report will be discussed in plenary

SPFMD: That is already in our calendar for ordinary business, so that is part of the process. If Senator Grace would want to sponsor it, that's in order. It is already part of our calendar, there is nothing unusual about that. Q: Doon din po idedecide if there is a necessity to reopen the investigation according to the request of Senator Cayetano?

SPFMD: The reopening of the investigation must be voted upon by the entire plenary, because the report is already with the plenary. It is outside the jurisdiction of the Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, the report has been submitted. It is in the calendar for ordinary business of the Senate as a whole. To bring it back to the Committee will require the vote of the plenary.

Q: On the Finance Committee chairmanship

SPFMD: Para din yang announcement ni Presidente, maghintay na lang kayo ng kaunti.

Q: Within today sir, madedesisyonan na yun?

SPFMD: Maghintay lang kayo. Just wait. The resignation was just made effective yesterday, I came to know about it yesterday noon, so I need time to consult the other members of the Senate.

Q: But before the budget?

SPFMD: Syempre.

Q: On the Senate moving on after the Mamasapano incident

SPFMD: I am expressing a personal view, but that is a matter for the plenary to decide.
