Sen. Bongbong Marcos thanks PUP students after emerging as top VP choice in online poll

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos, Jr. today expressed his gratitude to students of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) after he emerged as the top choice in their online poll for vice presidential candidate in the 2016 election.

The result of the online poll was published today in PUP Official Fan Profile Facebook page.

"PUP students are known for their active interest and participation in pressing social and political issues. To learn that I am their choice for the next vice president certainly gives additional encouragement in my pursuing my mission to serve our people," said Marcos.

"With all humility, I am grateful for their trust and confidence," he added.

Marcos believes the PUP poll is an indication that the youth sector recognizes his efforts, such as the SK Reform Bill (SB 2041), to give them greater empowerment in addressing their own issues and participating in nation-building. The SK Reform Bill was recently approved by the bicameral conference committee.

The PUP online poll results ranked Marcos as number one choice among the 2016 vice presidential candidates, garnering 37.36 percent or 50,675 of the total 135,622 votes cast.

In second place is Cong. Leni Robredo with 21.20% or 28,746 votes, while Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV was in third place with 18,424 votes or 13.58 %.

In fourth place is Sen. Alan peter Cayetano with 12.96 % or 17,578 votes, followed by Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero with 10.30% or 13,976 votes, while Sen. Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan is in 5th place with 2.04% or 2,765 votes.

Meanwhile, it was Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago took a commanding lead in the online poll among 2016 presidential contenders, garnering 64.07% of the votes, or 86,897, while Sen. Grace Poe in the 2nd spot getting 14.35% or 19,456 votes.

In third place is Mar Roxas with 11.64% or 15,784 votes, while Vice President Jejomar Binay is in 4th place with 7.26% or 9,846 votes.
