Marcos Pushes For Revival Of Kadiwa Stores To Address High Prices Of Goods

To address the skyrocketing prices of basic goods and commodities and help farmers get the best prices for their crops, Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos today pressed on the re-establishment of the Kadiwa Store system to help the Filipino consumers cope with the rising prices of commodities.

"The Kadiwa system enabled the public to buy goods at cheaper rates and the farmers to sell their crops without having to worry about transportation costs, eliminating also the middle men who force prices up."

Marcos recommended that for prices to stay steady, the government should buy the goods when the supply is excessive and sell them when stocks are inadequate.

He also scored the current system in government which is more focused on importation rather than giving priority to the needs of the farmers, "Iba na ang ginagawa kasi katulad ng NFA, imbes na pinag-aayos ang presyo ng bilihin ay panay na lang import. Kailangan na natin palitan yan."

Marcos also emphasized the need to save the "dying" agricultural sector in the country in the face of the ASEAN integration, "Ang masasabi natin sa mga nakaraang taon ay naghihingalo na talaga ang agrikultural sector sa Pilipinas.
