San Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez endorses the vice presidential candidacy of Sen. Marcos

SAN Juan City Mayor Guia Gomez today endorsed the vice presidential candidacy of Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.

Gomez, who expressed confidence that Marcos will be a good vice president, made the endorsement during the flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall where he was the guest of honor.

"Mga kababayan samahan ninyo ako na itaguyod ang kandidatura ng ating susunod na bise presidente na walang iba kundi ang mahal ko, mahal ninyo at mamahalin pa natin at tayo ay talagang hindi titigil hangga't hindi siya mailuklok na bise presidente. Ang ating vice president, Senator Bongbong Marcos Ngayon pa lang kine-claim na natin he is our vice president," Gomez said.

Marcos humbly accepted the endorsement and expressed gratitude for the huge support he has received from the people of San Juan.

He admired Gomez and the city government for giving priority to education even as he also congratulated the Polytechnic University of the Philippines- San Juan on its 8th anniversary.

"Napakalaking priority sa Lungsod ng San Juan ang serbisyo ng edukasyon. Kaya I congratulate PUP and I also congratulate San Juan for having the foresight and for having the understanding and supporting education," he said.

Free education for students in State Universities and Colleges is one of the policies that Marcos wants to institute if elected vice president.

During his speech, he jokingly said the people of the City of San Juan should not greet him "welcome" but rather "welcome back home" because he once lived in San Juan with his family when his father, the late President and namesake Ferdinand Marcos, was a congressman.

"204 Ortega St, San Juan, Rizal ang dati naming address. Ginawa na po ni Mayor Erap (Estrada) na 204 Marcos St. For the first few years of my life, I was a citizen and a resident of San Juan and so was the rest of my family. Kaya 'pag sinabi na 'let's go home,' ang ibig sabihin uuwi na kami ng San Juan...It's always nice to be home," he said.
