NPC ENDORSEMENT GIVES POE-ESCUDERO CAMPAIGN
A BOOST, SAYS CHIZ

TUGUEGARAO CITY--Vice-presidential frontrunner Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero said the endorsement from his former political party, the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), was a welcome boost to his candidacy and that of his presidential running mate, Sen. Grace Poe.

"Malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa aking dating partido. Marami kasi ang nagsasabi na mahina kami at walang makinarya, malaking boost ito para magkaroon kami ng presensya sa mas maraming parte ng Pilipinas," Escudero told a press conference in Tuguegarao.

NPC is second largest political party in the country after the Liberal Party and is part of the administration coalition headed by President Benigno Aquino III.

NPC officials led by their president, Deputy Speaker and Isabela Rep. Giorgidi Aggabao, announced during a press conference at the House of Representatives that the party had decided to adopt Poe and Escudero as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively, in the May 9 polls.

Both Poe and Escudero are running as independent candidates under the "Gobyernong may Puso" platforms anchored on rapid and inclusive growth, transparent government and global competitiveness.

NPC spokesperson Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga said the entire machinery and resources of the party, which is fielding 4,129 national and local candidates for the coming elections, will be used to advance the candidacies of Poe and Escudero.

Despite the NPC endorsement, Escudero clarified that he and Poe had no intention of joining the political party and will remain independents even if they get elected in May.

"Nagpapasalamat kami sa tulong na ibibigay ng NPC pero mananatili kaming independent at hindi kami aanib sa kanilang partido," Escudero said.
