ARELLANO UNIVERSITY PICKS BONGBONG FOR VP
Padillas of Nueva Vizcaya endorse Marcos

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr again topped another university mock elections for the vice presidency.

This developed as the consolidation of the so-called Solid North provinces continued over the weekend with the Padillas of Nueva Vizcaya led by Rep. Carlos Padilla endorsing Marcos' vice presidential candidacy.

In the mock polls conducted by the Arellano University Main Campus, Marcos got 182 votes of the 355 votes cast or 51.26 percent. Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte topped the presidential survey with 51.5 percent.

The mock elections were conducted university-wide sponsored by the COMSCI Society in cooperation with Arellano University Politeia (Political Science) and Arellano University Supreme Student Council (AUSSC).

Marcos also recently topped the mock polls conducted at the Adamson University in Manila receiving 46.35 percent. Marcos' running mate Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago also topped the said polls receiving 64.06% of the votes out of 1, 524 respondents.

Marcos said it would appear that Santiago's popularity with the youth sector has rubbed off on him which could explain his strong showing in mock polls in universities. "At talagang ang kabataan suportadong-suportado siya. And I am happy to see na pati naman sa akin ay nararamdaman natin na suportado rin tayo ng kabataan," said Marcos.

Meanwhile, in bringing his Unity Caravan to Nueva Vizcaya Sunday, Rep. Padilla openly endorsed Marcos for the vice presidency before thousands of his constituents in the province. "Siya po ang dapat nating maging susunod na vice president dahil sya ay may angking galing at napatunayan na sa pagseserbisyo sa ating mga mga Pilipino,' Padilla said.

Padilla's wife, Nueva Vizcaya Governor Ruth Padilla and Vice Governor Lambert Galima personally welcomed Marcos at the airport when he arrived together with hundreds of supporters. Gov. Padilla even sustained scratches in her right eyebrow and mouth when she stumbled over a protruding wood at the Nueva Vizcaya State University during the arrival honors for the senator.

Marcos, for his part, said he is extremely honored by the overwhelming welcome he had been receiving wherever he goes. He said more than the surveys, it is the warm reception of the people in his Unity Caravan that keeps him inspired to work harder in the campaign.

Aside from Nueva Vizcaya, Marcos also got the endorsement of political heavyweights in the provinces of Ilocos Sur, Abra, La Union, Pangasinan, Isabela and Cagayan, which are all part of Solid North. He also got the backing of political leaders in Rizal, Cavite and Laguna as well as Mandaluyong City, Manila, San Juan and Pasig City.
