POE: I WILL BE PEOPLE'S PRESIDENT

CEBU--More than just being a unifying president, leading presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe said she will be a "people's president."

In a campaign rally in Danao, Poe vowed to be a leader who serves the interest of the nation and not just the interest of a few, which she blames for the state of the country's poor.

"Ako ay Pangulo para sa lahat hindi para sa iilan," she said.

To prove this, Poe said she will put up a Malacanang office in Cebu to bring the seat of power closer to the people and to push for the province's development by going all-out on infrastructure.

"Kapag ako naging pangulo ay maglalagay ako ng opisina dito sa Cebu sapagkat napakaimportante ang probinsya na ito," she said in a Bombo Radyo interview before the rally in Danao, which was organized by the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud) political party.

Bakud, which dominates the fifth district of Cebu, has endorsed the candidacy of Poe and her running mate, Sen. Francis Escudero. Cebu Rep. Joseph Ace Durano, an officer of Bakud, is the campaign manager of the tandem's Partido Galing at Puso.

"Ang gusto ko, unang-una, ayusin ang problema ninyo pagdating sa kahirapan, mas marami sa ating mga kababayan, sisiguraduhin ko ay may sapat na trabaho sa kanila. Maghihikayat tayo ng mas maraming magtatayo ng negosyo dito sa Cebu," she said in the radio interview.

Poe said a mass transport system must be put up in Cebu to ease traffic. Aside from the proposed circumferential road and Rapid Bus Transit system, Poe said Cebu deserves its own version of the MRT.

At the campaign rally Tuesday night, the senator assured Cebuanos that she will make sure that the country's riches will reach the marginalized sectors.

"Ang pera ng bayan ay para sa lahat at hindi sa bulsa ng iilan," Poe said.

This was Poe's fourth visit to the vote-rich province since the start of the campaign period. Celebrities Vic Sotto, Pauleen Luna, and Bela Padilla took the stage, delighting the thousands who showed up for the campaign rally.
