CHIZ: ELECTION IS ABOUT FILIPINO VOTERS, NOT CANDIDATES

Amid cross-talk and bickering during the first and only vice-presidential debate organized by the Commission on Elections, Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero said the upcoming election is not about the candidates, but the voters whose welfare and interests should reign supreme.

Ito po ay tungkol sa inyo, tungkol sa interes at kapakanan ninyo," Escudero said in his closing remarks during the debate hosted by CNN Philippines in partnership with Rappler and BusinessMirror.

Besides, he said, at the end of the day the individual vote of the electorate will decide the outcome of the May polls.

"Sa dulo, sa araw ng eleksyon, magkakapantay-pantay ang bawat isa... Pagdating ng araw ng eleksyon, tig-iisa tayo ng boto," Escudero pointed out.

In his answer to the question why the voters should vote for him, Escudero said it was not his nature to lift his own chair and would rather let his track record and achievements speak for himself.

Escudero is running as independent under the "Gobyernong may Puso" platforms of rapid and inclusive growth, poverty alleviation, transparency and global competitiveness, alongside presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe.
