Duterte-Cayetano: "No stopping change" Mammoth crowd flocks to Luneta

A mammoth crowd flocked to Luneta on Saturday (May 7) to attend the "miting de avance" of presidential contender Davao City Mayor Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte and his running mate, Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.

Dubbed by organizers as the biggest campaign rally in recent political history, a "sea of red" greeted Duterte and Cayetano and expressed their unending support for the duo on the last day of the campaign period.

As of 6:15 pm, around 250,000 people were present and witnessed the tandem present their proposed platform of government, which aims to end the disorder in the country. The duo reiterated their assurance that, if elected, they will bring forth a government that will be truly responsive to the people's needs.

"There's no stopping change"

"Change is not only coming. It is on its way. It cannot be denied anymore. No amount of black propaganda and mudslinging will prevent it from washing away 6 years of corruption, incompetence and indifference. The people have crossed the rubicon. They are ready for radical change," Cayetano said.

Cayetano also reminded the voters to remain vigilant amid serious threats of election cheating.

"The enemies of change are desperate. They are scared. And in their desperation and fear, they will go as far as break the very rules they cherish so as not to upset the status quo. We will not give them that privilege. We will thwart all their efforts to subvert the people's will," Cayetano asserted.

"Last card"

Meanwhile, Duterte said that he will stake his life, honor and even the presidency in order to deliver real change to the lives of ordinary citizens.

"In a perfect world, I know I am not your perfect candidate. But we don't live in a perfect world. We live in a world where criminals roam the streets and instill fear, drug syndicates destroy families and the future of our children, and corrupt government officials plunder the nation's treasury," Duterte said.

"I am not your perfect option. But I am your last card. I promise you I will get down and dirty just to get things done. I will get things done. I will do it for the Filipino people," Duterte said.
