GORDON CALLS FOR QUICK INVESTIGATION OF SIBLINGS' KILLINGS

Senator Richard J. Gordon called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct a quick investigation on the killing of a man pursuing the case of his sister who was shot dead inside a jeepney last July.

Gordon stressed that the PNP is duty-bound to immediately solve criminal cases such as the murders of siblings Lauren and Petronio Rosales Jr. Three months after Lauren was killed by a fellow passenger in Makat City, her brother Petronio was gunned down by an unknown assailant in Barangay San Antonio Village, also in Makati, while waiting for a ride home on Wednesday, October 26.

"The PNP should act immediately on this. I am calling on the police to conduct an investigation quickly and solve the case immediately. Nagagalit ang mga tao kapag walang ginagawa ang mga pulis o kapag hindi nalulutas ang mga krimen," he said.

The senator, who is set to submit a committee report on the investigation conducted by the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights on recent and rampant killings, said that one of the recommendations in his report is requiring police investigators to conduct an investigation immediately and to file appropriate charges as soon as possible.

"Dapat may mabilis na deadline ang mga pulis sa pag-iimbestiga ng mga kaso, lalo na sa mga pagpapatay, at siguraduhing malutas agad ang mga ito. Hindi pwedeng papatay-patay sila at hayaang mabaon sa limot ang mga kaso. Talagang magagalit ang mga tao sa kanila," he stressed.

Gordon warned that the Rosales siblings' murders should not become like the other killings in the past which have remained unsolved to this day.

"There has been a long list of unsolved killings that have been perpetrated by riding in tandems even in the previous administrations. To this day, a great number of them have yet to be solved. The proposed laws that I shall recommend behooves the PNP to solve all crimes with dispatch and hopefully will ensure that the Rosales murders and all the unsolved others will be solved and justice shall be seen to be done," he said.
