Transcript of Ambush Interview with Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III

Q: On the recently-concluded US elections SPPimentel: I believe in the policy of non-interference, so we respect the will of the American people, whoever would win the elections - be it Clinton or Trump. But as it appears right now Trump is leading and only needs a few electoral votes, so congratulations to the Republican Party for having captured the White House and produced a new president.

I think kahit sino manalo, alam mo, Clinton or Trump, since this is a new administration or a new leader, we could always start with a clean slate with whoever. So it doesn't matter really.

Q: Do you see him interacting with our president?

SP: I think they can get along well, and just within a rhythm. Ang gusto ko lang sabihin, this is no longer President Obama who commented on the program of our president in a negative way.

There is a new US Ambassador, it is no longer Philip Goldberg. We have a new president- Trump man o Clinton, who has not yet negatively commented on any program of the Philippine program. So clean slate.

I also congratulate the American people for the peaceful transfer of power. Ganoon naman ang demokrasya, eh. The election was peacefully and honestly held. We have to congratulate that democracy, yun din ang ambisyon natin.

And an appeal to other countries - to respect our results. Hindi porke't ayaw nila yung nanalo, iintrigahin na nila.
