Sen. JV Ejercito says Pinoy workers should be prioritized over Chinese, foreigners

REELECTIONIST Senator JV Ejercito has called on the government to prioritize hiring Filipinos for job vacancies in the country amid reports of massive influx of foreign workers, mostly Chinese, who were allegedly employed in government infrastructure projects sans proper documentation.

"Priority dapat ang mga Filipino worker sa job opportunities. Lalo na ang 'Build, Build, Build" program, maraming trabaho na mage-generate at dapat Pilipino ang priority," Ejercito said in a statement.

Ejercito's appeal stemmed from recent reports that throngs of Chinese nationals were continuously working in projects funded by China under the "Build, Build, Build" program of the administration.

The senator cited the indubitable inherent skills and positive work ethics of Filipinos, adding that such characteristics made them excel in various fields of work and even made the race one of the most sought-after in countries abroad.

Ejercito, former San Juan City mayor and ex-congressman representing the Lone District of the city, is seeking reelection in the forthcoming May senatorial election.

As legislator (in the House of Representatives and Senate), he has a total of 76 enacted laws, out of 572 authored and co-authored bills, and 108 resolutions.

Two of his landmark laws as a senator are the Universal Health Care Act, which earned him the tag "Mr. Healthcare," and the Creation of Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Act.
