Message of Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa for Araw ng Kagitingan 2021

In celebrating today the Araw ng Kagitingan, let us all salute our forebearers who offered their lives at the altar of freedom during the Japanese invasion.

The valor of our heroes, nameless and faceless most of them, who bravely stood and fell in the battlegrounds of Bataan in a gallant effort to defend our flag, is an indelible testimony of our forefathers' patriotism and nationalism.

We, Filipinos, remember and honor them today as all nations of the world stand as one in battling the dreaded COVID-19, a disease that has already claimed millions of lives and is continuously wreaking havoc and causing surges of new cases across the globe.

Fighting the coronavirus within our territory, a new breed of Filipino heroes has emerged. We call them frontliners.

They are the heroes in white gowns caring for patients in hospitals, the heroes equipped with syringes as they administer the much needed Covid19 vaccines to our health workers, other frontliners and residents of different LGUs, the heroes in blue or green uniforms and rattan sticks ensuring safety and order in the streets, the heroes in motorcycles delivering food and other essential items to families, and many other Filipino good Samaritans who are spreading good deeds in this time of the pandemic.

In our war on coronavirus that kills not by guns and hurts not by bayonets, let us all draw strength, courage and dedication from our war heroes.

May their sacrifices strengthen our resiliency and the memory of their heroism become viral, a super-spreader of hope and faith that we will overcome this health crisis.
