Poe on benefits of medical frontliners:

Our medical frontliners, saddled by the COVID-19 workload, must receive all benefits and pay due them under the law.

The Bayanihan law not only mandates the special risk allowance but also other benefits such as hazard pay, accommodation, transportation and meals to enable them to carry on with their crucial duty.

They should also get free life insurance as part of their financial security as well as that of their families.

We are pushing as well for the more reasonable interpretation of the law so as not to restrict the special risk allowance to those directly catering to COVID-19 patients. In a pandemic, hospitals and health facilities are dangerous battlegrounds for all health workers, and they all deserve social benefits.

The government must not shut its eyes to the woes of our medical frontliners and leave them groping in utter disillusionment.
