Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa Manifestation of Support on Sen. Cayetano's Privilege Speech Regarding Breastfeeding

Mr. President, I would like to commend the good lady senator from Taguig for paying tribute to the nourishment that women, mothers all over the world, have never failed to give. For giving honor to their capacity to breastfeed. Before the month ends, we take this time to celebrate Breastfeeding Month.

Breastmilk. It is a seemingly very basic form of nourishment, and yet it is the kind that so many of us are indebted to. In fact, Mr. President, all three of my children were breastfed. And also my one apo, my lone apo right now is being breastfed by my daughter. And it has proven to be a worthwhile step in our parenting journey.

Contrary to the view that women are weak, Mr. President, women possess a very special sort of strength. And I stand today as a man who believes in that strength. More importantly, I stand as a legislator who believes that this strength in women must always be highlighted and supported. One of the surefire ways to do so is to fully support these measures that provide for better conditions for women who breastfeed, especially in today's context of a pandemic, Mr. President.

At the end of the day, when we support breastfeeding, we support our women, our children. It is a commitment to life itself, Mr. President.
