(Medal of Excellence for Eumir Marcial)

Mr. President, my distinguished colleagues, ladies and gentlemen, I once again stand before you today to Sponsor Senate Resolution No. 876, which confers the Philippine Senate Medal of Excellence to our 2020 Tokyo Olympic Medalist, Eumir Marcial.

Through Senate Resolution No. 781, we established the Philippine Senate Medal of Excellence to be bestowed and conferred upon outstanding Filipinos who have excelled in their field of expertise and have set the highest standards of excellence, nationalism, and virtue that Filipinos can aspire for.

It is with pride and honor to recognize Eumir Marcial as one of the exemplary athletes who faced the world and showed what a heart of Filipino competitor is - passionate, persevering, always determined and resilient.

Eumir has already won numerous boxing fights, but his recent bout in the Olympics so far is the highlight among all his fights. It was rewarding not only for him but most especially to our country. A single moment is all it takes to give us a convincing victory that will forever be written in history.

It is with high regard and admiration to award Eumir Marcial the Senate Medal of Excellence for his outstanding performance in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics that inspired and brought pride to the entire Filipino Nation.
