Drilon believes Robredo will run for President

Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon, a Liberal Party stalwart, believes that Vice President Leni Robredo will make her bid for the presidency before the October 8 deadline of the filing of certificate of candidacy.

"Ako po, personally, palagay ko po hindi tatalikod sa obligasyon si Vice President Leni. Tatakbo po siya sa aking tingin. She will not run away from the challenge," Drilon said in the Teleradyo interview Saturday.

The 1Sambayan coalition has nominated Robredo as its presidential candidate for the 2022 national and local elections.

The Vice President has yet to decide as she said she wanted to forge a united opposition that will face the Duterte-backed presidential candidate next year.

"Marami po siyang napupuna na dapat gawin pero hindi ginagawa kaya sa aking tingin at personal kong opinion ay tatakbo siya," he added.

"I join the 1Sambayan and the Filipino people in hoping that Vice President Robredo will throw her hat in the presidential ring," Drilon said.

The filing of the certificate of candidacy started Friday and the last of the filing is on October 8.

Drilon hopes Robredo will heed the call of the people for her to run for President before October 8.

"She is the most qualified to lead the country's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Her office's accomplishment speaks volume of how much she can and is willing to do to help our countrymen in need," Drilon said in a statement.
