Sen. Leila M. de Lima on Duterte's worry of evidence fabrication at ICC

Whatever Duterte says about the ICC and his impending arrest by the international court can no longer be taken seriously. These are the ramblings of a murderer-tyrant at the twilight of power.

Every dictator goes through this stage, right before the international warrant is issued by the ICC. It is the feeling of sudden vulnerability and utter nakedness before the scales of Lady Justice after abusing power for so many years.

Without any power and position left, even if his daughter becomes President, Citizen Duterte will be left with no power outside of his Davao fiefdom. But in his vulnerability, Duterte need not be paranoid and imagine that the ICC will fabricate evidence against him. Only Duterte does that, not the ICC.

Instead of being afraid of his own ghost of bastardizing the Philippine justice system as Davao City Mayor and as President, Duterte is better off worrying about the ghosts of the thousands of victims of his 30-year killing career visiting him soon, whether inside his ICC cell or his kulambo. ###
