"EMERGENCY ROOM": Senator Mar Roxas yesterday said the country is in the "emergency room" as a result of sky-high food and oil prices. Because of this, the President must not put to waste the opportunity in her State of the Nation Address (SONA) to focus the government on a very basic need: to feed the nation. In a press briefing, the Senator said the government could opt not to wait until 2013 for rice self-sufficiency, which could be achieved now if only the government provides the needed fertilizer to farmers. Producing the rice gap of 2 million metric tons this way would also tend to be cheaper than importing this from other countries.
