AFFORDABLE MEDICINES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS: Liberal President Senator Mar Roxas fulfills last Saturday his promise made last January 23 to "Lola Pascuala" Backeng (standing in Roxas' right), a senior citizens' group leader in Baguio City, and returns with a bulk of vital and affordable quality branded medicines bought from the Philippine International Trading Corp. under the Cheap Medicines Law authored principally by Roxas. The package of maintenance medicine used regularly by most senior citizens cost about P28,000, or less than half the price when bought over the counter in popular drugstore chains, and considered as a fulfillment of Roxas' dream to give most Filipinos access to affordable quality medicines. The medicines will be sold by the Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens' Associations to its more than 20,000 members at half the regular price in drugstores. With Roxas in meeting the senior citizens were former Baguio City Vice-Mayor and Baguio LP Chapter Chairman Leandro Yangot (with yellow shirt) and Baguio City Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda (to Roxas' left), social welfare committee chief of the city council.
