GORDON VISITS PNRC HOUSES: Independent Senator and Philippine National Red Cross Chairman Richard J. Gordon (center) and Australian Ambassador Roderick Smith (3rd from left) visit one of the 1,500 houses built by the PNRC in Santa Barbara, Iloilo and Aklan for the victims of Typhoon Frank last year. Gordon said this shelter assistance program is part of the 15,000 houses constructed for the victims of disasters, particularly families that has been displaced by landslides in Southern Leyte, and victims of super-typhoons Reming and Seniang in the Bicol region. The Australian government, through the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) contributed P20 million to the PNRC’s emergency assistance project.
