ENRILE, LEGARDA, TRILLANES FILE FIRST BILLS FOR 15TH CONGRESS: A staff of the Senate Legislative Bills and Index Service receives copies of the first bills from Senator President Juan Ponce Enrile, Sen. Loren Legarda and Sen. Antonio Trillanes. Enrile is the first senator to propose three legislative measures for the 15th Congress, namely, Senate Bill 1, which seeks to penalize unfair trade and anti-competitive practices; Senate Bill 2, which directs the reduction of electricity rates and Senate Bill 3, which seeks to impose a uniform franchise tax on the distribution of utilities. Legarda and Trinallnes filed 10 bills each, including the Acts for cheaper medicines and the access to public information. The Senate will open session on July 26. (PRIB)
