DRILON ATTENDS 126th IPU: On 2 April 2012, Senator Franklin M. Drilon delivers the Philippine Statement to the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on the theme “Parliaments and People: Bridging the Gap.” In his speech, Senator Drilon highlighted the progress being made by the Philippines in addressing the digital divide between the government and the people through information communication technology (ICT) programs such as the iSchools Project and Gearing Up Internet Literacy and Access for Students (GILAS), which have been providing computers and internet access to public high schools around the country.
