NELSON MANDELA DAY IN SENATE: Senator Cynthia Villar with Mr. Toshihiro Tanaka, Country Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), led the tribute for Nelson Mandela at the Senate on Wednesday (Aug. 7). Senator Villar read excerpts of the speech of the Former South African President in the United Nations General Assembly in 1994. Other senators and dignitaries led by South African Ambassador to the Philippines Agnes Nyamande-Pritso also showered tributes to Mandela, who is in critical condition.
