DRILON AT RICE SUPPLY HEARING: Senate President Franklin Drilon quizzes representatives from the Department of Justice (DOJ) headed by Secretary Leila de Lima during a hearing conducted by the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food regarding the actual state of rice supply in the country on Wednesday, January 22. During the hearing, Drilon urged the DOJ to already issue its opinion on the perceived conflict between the country's rice import commitment to the World Trade Organization and domestic laws limiting the entry of foreign agricultural products, to stop smugglers from taking advantage of the current hiatus.
