UNITED NATIONS OFFICE FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION (UNISDR): Senator Loren Legarda and Ms. Margareta Wahlström, chief of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), both called for greater action and enhanced cooperation among sectors of society to build the Philippines’ resilience. Legarda, UN Champion for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation for Asia-Pacific, hosted a meeting with Wahlström and members of government agencies, academe, private sector and the diplomatic corps to discuss strategies in strengthening resilience in Yolanda-affected areas and the country as a whole.
