MAGNA CARTA FOR POOR WORKERS: Senator Nancy Binay, chair of the Senate Committee on Social Justice, Welfare and Rural Development, and Senator Sonny Angara, conduct a public hearing on several measures proposing for a creation of a magna carta for workers in the informal sector. The measures also seek to address the development and rights of the poor by extending to them benefits such as social security and health coverage. “Workers in the informal economy play a big role and make a big contribution to the economy but they are not given much attention,” Binay said.
