COIN HOARDING: Senator Sergio Osmeña III, chair of the Senate Committee on Banks, Financial Institutions & Currencies, questions officials of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during a Senate hearing looking into the unscrupulous hoarding and exportation of coins by syndicates who in turn melt and convert the coins to be used as raw materials for mobile phones, computers or other industrial applications. Also discussed was a proposed measure establishing a Securities and Exchange Commission office in the City of Bacolod.
