DRILON MEETS ISRAELI AMBASSADOR: Senate President Franklin M. Drilon receives His Excellency Ephraim Ben Matityau, Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines, during a courtesy call at the Senate of the Philippines on 3 June 2015. The Senate President and Ambassador Matityau discussed the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Israel, which dates back to the Open Door Policy of the Philippine Commonwealth Government that made the Philippines a safe haven for Jews fleeing Nazi Europe during WWII. The Embassy of Israel in Manila is currently undertaking a year-long program honoring the Philippines for its comprehensive bilateral cooperation with Israel, and particularly for setting the highest moral standards for humanitarian assistance.
