UPDATING THE TARIFF AND CUSTOMS CODE: Senator Sonny Angara, chair of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, discusses a measure seeking to address the need to update the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines (TCCP), which was codified in 1978. If passed, the measure will enable the full automation of Customs procedures, strengthen its risk management system, and enhance trade facilitation without prejudice to revenue collection, enforcement, and protection from the entry of banned, prohibited and dangerous substances and articles, Angara said.
