ANTIQUE RICE TERRACES PRESERVATION: Senator Loren Legarda, Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, listens to Flord Calawag, who wrote an article on the newly-discovered rice terraces in San Remigio, Antique. Legarda told cultural agencies present during the budget hearing on Tuesday, 15 September 2015, to be extremely cautious and environmentally- and culturally-sensitive when they visit the Antique rice terraces and the community of the Iraynon-Bukidnon, the indigenous group that maintains the rice terraces. “This newly-discovered natural wonder is home to a community that is in harmony with its environment. We should not disturb this delicate relationship,” said Legarda.
