DA BUDGET FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION: Sen. Cynthia Villar, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, urged the Department of Agriculture headed by Sec. Proceso Alcala, to present a budget that will be instrumental in alleviating poverty among farmers and fisherfolks. The senator said 80% of the proposed budget should be allocated to directly benefit the people in the form of development and livelihood programs. Villar heads the finance subcommittee hearing the proposed P52 billion budget of agencies under Alcala.
