SEN. MARCOS SAYS SUBIC BAY FREEPORT ZONE KEY TO CONGESTION PROBLEMS IN METRO MANILA: Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos emphasized that the Subic Bay Freeport Zone could be holding the duplicate key to unlocking what is probably Metro Manila’s greatest logistical conundrum of the modern era. In his speech during the general membership meeting before the Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce, the senator lauded the strong performance of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone and even urged the government to heed the plan of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) to tap Subic as a primary long term solution particularly to the port congestion problem affecting Metro Manila.

The Senator also mentioned of what is popularly known as the “Dream Plan” for Metro Manila and its surrounding areas that was approved by NEDA last year. The plan conceives of and advocates a transport-oriented development strategy and blueprint not only for Metro Manila, but for a “Greater Capital Region”, which harnesses the combined economic potentials of Regions IV-A and III.
