NIA BUDGET HEARING: Senator Cynthia A. Villar, chairperson of the Senate Agriculture and Food Committee, presides over the Senate Finance Sub-Committee E hearing in the proposed budget of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) headed by Administrator Florencio Padernal. The senator has been pushing for the immediate construction and rehabilitation of the country's irrigation that will boost the production of agricultural products. She authored Senate Bill No. 34 which provides for a six-year accelerated irrigation program.
