FOOD SAFETY: Senator Cynthia A. Villar says strong commitment to food safety will give the Philippines a competitive edge especially with the regional economic integration under the ASEAN Economic Community or AEC unfolding by the end of this year. Speaking during the Philippine Food Safety Conference 2015 at Crowne Plaza Manila, Villar notes that focus on food safety also belongs to the agenda of AEC's implementation. The senator, chair of the Senate Agriculture and Food Committee, intends to review the implementation of Food Safety Law of 2013 to avoid incidents of food poisoning and other food-related health hazards.
