Senate Adopts Reso 544: Majority Floor Leader Migz Zubiri sponsors Senate Resolution No. 544 expressing the Senate’s sympathy and condolences to the family of environmentalist and former Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. who passed away last Oct 1, 2020 at the age of 84. Zubiri, who also authored the resolution, said Marañon was a visionary who changed Negros. “His agricultural and environmental initiatives for the province were groundbreaking. Under his leadership there was a substantial growth in agriculture across the province, providing livelihood to thousands of farmers. He also took a hard stance against coal, declaring that only clean and renewable sources of energy would be allowed in the province,” Zubiri said during a hybrid plenary session Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
