On Military Officers Having Their Own FB Account: Sen. Francis Tolentino expresses the belief that military officers have the right to speak their minds but they have to be in sync with what the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is saying. Tolentino, during the hybrid meeting of the Committee on National Defense of the Commission on Appointments (CA) on the ad interim appointments and nomination of 50 senior officers Wednesday, October 28, 2020, asked Army’s Operations Research Center chief Col. Harold Cabunoc if it is proper for military officers to have their own personal Facebook page, and linking up with what the organization is pronouncing. Cabunoc said military officers have the responsibility to tell the people what they are doing and to share correct information about the AFP. “As a military officer I think you have all the right, protected by the Constitution, to speak your mind but it has to be related to what the organization is pronouncing. There has to be a limit with what you can say as part of the Philippine Army and what can you personally say. It has to be in sync with what the organization is saying,” Tolentino said.
