Giving social justice to Marawi siege victims: Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” F. Zubiri expresses gratitude to his colleagues following the approval of Senate Bill No. (SBN) 2420 which seeks to provide compensation for the loss or destruction of properties as a result of the 2017 Marawi Siege on second reading. Zubiri, one of the principal authors of SBN 2420, noted that many residents of Marawi City and other parts of Lanao del Sur are still without homes and have no way to renovate and rebuild their homes that were destroyed during the siege and they earnestly sought the passage of the bill. “It’s a very small amount. It’s not a large amount and it’s really to give social justice to those victims of terrorism that taken siege of Marawi City,” Zubiri said during the hybrid plenary session Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
