Legarda urges support for DOLE, DFA 2023 budgets: Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda, during Tuesday’s plenary session November 8, 2022, co-sponsors the proposed 2023 budgets of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) amounting to P20.48 billion, and P49.223 billion for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) which includes the budget of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). In her co-sponsorship speech, Legarda showcased the accomplishments, programs, and comprehensive plans of these agencies and asked the support of her colleagues to consider the budgets of the said departments. “My dear colleagues, let us support the budget of the DOLE for an economic recovery program to create jobs and sustain growth and the DFA to strengthen its position for the protection and promotion of the interests of the Filipino people around the world,” Legarda said. “The economic and social costs are further evidence of a shared fate. Agreeing on global rules and standards supports consistency of information, helps promote effective practices, and forms the basis for shared understanding and mutual trust,” she added.(Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)
